The annual York International Shakespeare Festival returns in April 2025, sponsored by York St John University.

Artists from around the world will arrive in York for 10 days of world and UK premieres, storytelling in schools and libraries, book launches, seminars, lectures and exhibitions.
The 2025 Festival marks the second year of a three-year sponsorship between York International Shakespeare Festival and York St John University, linked to the School of Humanities and the School of the Arts.
A large number of events will take place on the University campus, including the world premiere of 'The Murder of Gonzago', a European play reading in translation from Bulgaria, and Re-Lording Richard 3.0, by Philipp Sommer.
